Additional Book Details
Perspectives on the Religious Landscape in Africa brings together a select number of thematic chapters originally presented at the thirteenth annual Africa Conference convened by Toyin Falola at the University of Texas at Austin, and coordinated by Lady Jane Acquah and Ryan Groves. The chapters here cover a range of research topics on religion and its social, economic, and political interplay within sub-Saharan African societies, especially in countries such as Burkina Faso, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa, and Mali.
This volume presents a variety of information on religious influences including political changes, the politicization of Islam, migration of people, the spread of religious ideas, education, and terrorism. The scholars who have contributed their research findings here all come from interdisciplinary backgrounds and have lent their expertise to the ongoing conversations about the state of religion in sub-Saharan Africa.
This book is part of the African World Series, edited by Toyin Falola, Jacob and Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities, University of Texas at Austin.
